The first book to the Jaz Parks series is called “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” by Jennifer Rardin, who is unfortunately deceased and will be missed.
The first book mostly centers around a woman named Jaz Parks who works for a company that tracks down and kills evil supernaturals. In this story, supernaturals finally came out of the dark and have taken their place in society. Also, because of this the government has placed several laws for the supernaturals to follow because if they don’t they’ll send Jaz Parks to come find and kill you.
She’s known for being one of the best assassins that they have, but also one of the most reckless. Her boss, Pete, is a serious penny pincher so when he has to keep paying for all of the bills for repairs that she keeps breaking like expensive cars, hospital bills, state of the art weaponry, he gets her a partner.
That partner is Vayl. A sexy and powerful century old vampire who has the power to control ice. Theirs a lot of mystery around him that comes with all vampires. Vayl wanted to become Jaz’s partner for some reason which he is yet to reveal to her. I could already tell that he was in love with her and was falling harder to more they were together. But, what good would any love story be without a love rival.
That’s when the sweet jokester named Cole Bemont comes in. He’s what every girl dreams of dating, which ends up driving Vayl up the wall. This was so jealous of Cole that the moment they saw each other, they kept sizing each other up. Since, Vayl doesn’t show much emotion except maybe anger or disapproval the only way someone knows how he’s feeling is by the temperature in the room. Since, he has the power to control ice when he’s really mad about something, he’ll make the room drop a couple of degrees.
Jaz and Vayl are like fire and ice. They are complete opposites but work really well together. So, far they have encountered vampires, demons and seers. I look forward to reading the second book to see what will happen to this ass kicking duo.
Thanks for Reading!
