Incarceron

edu.glogster.comWarning: This may contain spoilers!

So, I know its been a while but I’m going to be talking about book this time around. I did say I wanted to add more books to the blog so here I go.

This one is called,”Incarceron”, that was written by Catherine Fisher. Now I will admit I was browsing the book store and this one happened to catch my eye. I can say without a doubt that I don’t regret buying this book at all.

Its revolves around two different people Claudia and Finn. Claudia was the daughter of the Warden that watched over and controlled Incarceron. She’s also in an arranged marriage to the queen’s only son. Finn, on the other hand, is a boy who was sent Incarceron a few years ago and not only doesn’t remember how he got there in the first place, but doesn’t remember his life before that, as well.

To anyone living in Incaceron, it’s the most hellish prison on Earth with no way out. To the people living outside of it, it’s a paradise that people can only dream about because only really special people can get in. (I smell trouble and a conspiracy here!)

As you read, the book switches between Claudia and Finn’s point of view and later on you see how these two people are connected with each other. This book is really has a steam punk feel to it and it really shows how there are many types of prisons in the world and it comes in many forms.

There are many interesting characters in this story but if I had to choose the one I loved and hated the most; then it would be Claudia. I loved how she used the ultimate force of girl power in her time facing off against all her enemies and not letting the system tell her what she could and could not do. For me personally, her only flaw was how innocent she was sometimes, the deeper in the game she got herself in the more she couldn’t come to terms that some people in this world will go as low as they possibly can in order to get what they want.

The one I hated the most was Keiro. Not the queen, the queen’s son or even the warden who all deserve a place in hell for what they’ve done, but Keiro really takes the cake with me. Keiro is Finn’s oath brother in Incarceron; as the title implies they sworn an oath to each other that they will always take care of each other and if one dies the other must avenge him. The thing is with me at least, those are just words. Words that can easily be broken given the right circumstances and this prison provides a ton of those. Keiro’s that type of person that looks trustworthy on the outside, but is full of shit on the inside. Everyone in this entire book tells Finn that Keiro is going to betray him over and over, but Finn has such blind faith in him and the oath that he in complete denial about his character. There are a lot of times that Keiro does some crazy or suspicious crap in this story. All you can hope for Finn is that he wakes up with a cup of reality sitting on the table; waiting for him.

With how this book ends, it kind of makes you wonder what’s going to happen next. Things are getting really intense with how things are going. I really enjoyed the adventure, the drama and the mystery this story contains and can’t wait to read the next one in the series.

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Book

Steam.comThis game I ended up buying recently and I just wanted to try it out and see how it is. It called, “Atelier Sophie”, and it was developed by Gust Co. Ltd. I could right away from looking at the cover that this game was set in a gentler pace than what I was used to in RPG games, but I decided to give it a shot anyway.

It revolves around Sophie, whose a young girl who is a novice in alchemy and after her grandma’s death, she made it her life goal to become the best alchemist around so everyone can depend on her like they did when her grandma was still around. Right as she was working on that plan, she discovers a book she’s never seen before in her shop and it starts flying and talking to her! Plachta is what the book likes to be called and sadly she’s lost all of her memories of the last 500 years.

Sophie decides to help her regain her lost memories and in exchange Plachta teaches Sophie better recipes and skills for alchemy. As the story progresses, they find out that Plachta used to be a human and a very powerful alchemist. Also, she remembered that she was the creator of the “Cauldron of Knowledge”, which is a device that boosts a alchemist’s power or even let’s a person who has no talent in alchemy actually be able to use it.

When Sophie heard this she wanted to get the Cauldron of Knowledge in order to turn Plachta back into a human. Until then, she had to make due with making a doll for her in order to move around more. Here’s something else that I think Sophie should have also been thinking when she heard Plachta’s story after regaining some of her memories. If someone went to all the trouble of moving their soul into a random book and making sure that they lost their freaking memories, I would think that their was a very IMPORTANT reason for that, don’t you? No one just makes them have amnesia for nothing. Obviously, she either wanted to forget something so she wouldn’t be tempted to do it again or someone made her forget and could mean big trouble for Sophie if they happen to still be looking for her after all this time.

Kei Tecmo.comThis girl is so soft-hearted that I can’t believe no one has come to swindle her yet in this game. It made want to slap her just to see if she would get angry or something. Personally, I don’t like Sophie’s character all that much, if you ask me. For an experienced gamer like myself, I’ve seen so many types of characters throughout different games with compelling backstories, emotional twists and watching character development throughout the story and other stuff, too. Sophie’s personality doesn’t seem to have that though.

So far, this girl has done nothing, but smile or be shocked, that’s it! If you watch her face you see that she still all smiles, even though, she’s thinking of something sad or something that makes her angry. It makes me think that all she can do is smile and nothing else. If they couldn’t do anything about her forever happy face, then at least make the story more in her favor. For example, she could be putting on a happy face all the time even in sad times because she still has hope in her heart that her missing dad or mom will come back home one day and tell everyone where she/he has been this whole time (both her parents are dead in the story by the way).  Something like that would have helped show her character in a different light than what I’m seeing.

The-O Network.comOther than that their nothing really wrong with the game. It’s definitely a game for beginners or for people who want a change of pace in gaming. This game can become very addicting if your one of those people who like to beat a game as fast as possible. Be prepared though, you will be running around a lot in this game. Enjoy!

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright?

I picked up this game mostly because I’ve been playing a lot of Ace Attorney games recently plus I’ve been really curious about what Professor Layton games are all about, even though, I’ve never played any of those. Basically, I was killing two birds with one stone. This Nintendo game was developed by Level 5 and Capcom and the storyline behind it is really interesting. Its about two different people getting sucked into a fantasy world called Labyrinthia.

In this game, the two work together to solve the magical world’s mysteries and hidden secrets. This is where I kind of got confused because the title of the game obviously says Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright, right? So, how come their working together on this instead of being bitter rivals? I have two ideas of why they chose this title. Its because during the entire game we switch out between the main characters stories during a certain parts of the game, so it kind of felt like they were competing to see which character the player liked playing the most. Also, at the end the two are finally duking it out in the last trial (sorry if I spoiled that for anyone) which is they named the game this way.

Personally, I liked playing as Phoenix Wright the most and I’ve learned through this game that I’m not much of a puzzle solver. Sure, I solved a couple of them with no help but most of them I had to use a lot of hint coins to solve them. Hint coins are just what their called; if you find a coin in the game then you can use it to help you solve a puzzle. The only problem with this is that when you activate the coins the hint is something that you already figured out which frustrated me to no end. I liked using them during trials though when I felt like I’ve done everything possible to figure out the contradiction. Also, I liked all the anime cut scenes that they put into it. Who doesn’t enjoy a good anime cut scene?

During this whole game, I though the cat named Eve was totally evil. The whole time I thought the cat was special and way too smart for its own good. In the end I was right and wrong and I’m not going to tell you how or why, your going to have to go play it for yourself to why I say so. If your a lover of puzzles or solving crazy trials, then you’ll love this game and its wacky characters. It’ll definitely challenge your brain a bit.

Dungeon Ni Deai O Motomeru No Wa Machigatte Iru Darou Ka

The title of this manga is a mouthful, but the story and idea surrounding it is pretty awesome. Unlike Sword Art Online or .Hack//Sign this manga describes a world where people live their lives like an RPG game. What I mean by that is that these people are born in this world where they have to fight monsters to get money, have their stats tattooed on their back and can form parties which they call ‘familia’ here.

They can even buy potions and armor to help boost up their status and health which also made me wonder what would happen when they die. I haven’t seen anyone die yet in this manga, but it makes me wonder do people just die like anybody else or do they disintegrate like the monsters? If they do, do they get another chance at life?

In this interesting world, it centers around a open minded boy named Bell who wants to be an elite adventurer. But, when he firsts starts out things do go as planned. First of all, he makes a contract with a goddess named Hestia who wears the same ripped dress and doesn’t have not one worshiper except Bell. So, she hopes that through Bell she can gain more followers and eventually become well known all over the world. Secondly, Bell likes to get ahead of himself and tries to fight in dungeons that he knows he isn’t ready for which lead to the meeting of the famous sword princess, Aizu.

In the beginning, Bell finds himself going to deep into the dungeons and comes across a monster that almost killed him, but Aizu ended up saving him in the end. It was like love at fist bloody battle for him, after that he fell in love with her and he got even more fired up to become a famous adventurer and hopes to one day be able to fight along side her.

Oomori Fujino and Kunieda really did a good job on this manga so far and I look forward to see what happens next.

Once Bitten Twice Shy (Jaz Parks Series)

The first book to the Jaz Parks series is called “Once Bitten, Twice Shy” by Jennifer Rardin, who is unfortunately deceased and will be missed.

The first book mostly centers around a woman named Jaz Parks who works for a company that tracks down and kills evil supernaturals. In this story, supernaturals finally came out of the dark and have taken their place in society. Also, because of this the government has placed several laws for the supernaturals to follow because if they don’t they’ll send Jaz Parks to come find and kill you.

She’s known for being one of the best assassins that they have, but also one of the most reckless. Her boss, Pete, is a serious penny pincher so when he has to keep paying for all of the bills for repairs that she keeps breaking like expensive cars, hospital bills, state of the art weaponry, he gets her a partner.

That partner is Vayl. A sexy and powerful century old vampire who has the power to control ice. Theirs  a lot of mystery around him that comes with all vampires. Vayl wanted to become Jaz’s partner for some reason which he is yet to reveal to her. I could already tell that he was in love with her and was falling harder to more they were together. But, what good would any love story be without a love rival.

That’s when the sweet jokester named Cole Bemont comes in. He’s what every girl dreams of dating, which ends up driving Vayl up the wall. This was so jealous of Cole that the moment they saw each other, they kept sizing each other up. Since, Vayl doesn’t show much emotion except maybe anger or disapproval the only way someone knows how he’s feeling is by the temperature in the room. Since, he has the power to control ice when he’s really mad about something, he’ll make the room drop a couple of degrees.

Jaz and Vayl are like fire and ice. They are complete opposites but work really well together. So, far they have encountered vampires, demons and seers. I look forward to reading the second book to see what will happen to this ass kicking duo.

Rosario Vampire Season 1

(Characters: Kurono, Ruby, Moka, Mizore and Yukari)

Rosario Vampire is an anime that I think anyone can get into. It’s about a normal human boy named Tsukune who becomes so desperate to pass any schools’ entrance exams that he ends up taking and passing the exam to attend Yokai Academy. Little did he know that he was now going to attend a school for monsters.

For obvious reasons your probably thinking,” Well, why doesn’t he just leave?” The creators of this anime thought about this, too. According to the story, humans can’t even get into the monster world which is where you have to go to even get to the school because its protected by a barrier. This makes you wonder how he is able to even get in there. They also say that if they ever catch a human in the their world then he is to be executed on the spot. Poor Tsukune.

If things weren’t bad enough for him the bus that brought him there only comes once a month. After, his initial freak out moment a silver lining appears and its name is Moka. She’s cute, perky and a vampire! The moment they met she sucked his blood and became hooked, now their the best of friends much to the guys of Yokai Academy’s dismay. She unknowingly became the one of the most beautiful and popular girls in the school and every guy in school becomes totally jealous of Tsukune. In turn gets him in a lot of fights of the school.

During his first with the ogre I thought he was going to die, but I wiped that thought from my mind because their was no way that they would kill the main character in the first episode. During the first episode, Moka’s bad ass personality is revealed. When the rosary that she always wears comes off, her hair turns silver and her entire personality changes into a kick butt vampire.

Later, in the story Tsukune not only builds a reputation among his fellow classmates but also builds himself a bit of a harem of beautiful and powerful girls. Later, we have Kurono, who is a succubus who originally planned to steal away Moka’s popularity, so she can turn all of the guys into her love slaves. But, she ends up falling in love with Tsukune and tries whatever she can to get him to fall for her. Then there is Yukari, who is a genius witch who loves to play tricks on people. The stalker want to be girlfriend,Mizore, is a ice monster that has also fallen for Tsukune and follows him everywhere. Later, in the season another witch named Ruby who I like to think is kind of like Yukari’s big sister in a way since their witches and all.

Last but not least, we have Gin, the Werewolf. He is the only other guy in the group and I think his monster form is totally awesome. Too bad, he’s such a pervert. He’ll do anything to look up a girl’s skirt and he also likes to take photos of girls undressing in the locker rooms. Everyone knows he does it, but he’s so fast and sneaky that he never gets caught.

This anime is filled with romance, monsters, mystery and plenty of monster fighting and I enjoyed every minute of it. I’m hoping that the second season is just as good as the first one.

The Legend of Phoenix Wright Begins

Back from my brief vacation I shall now continue blogging once again. This time will start by talking about another Ace Attorney game.

For those who have read my previous posts then you know that I have talked about the Ace Attorney series games in the past. Unfortunately, I am playing them out of order and today is no different. This one is called Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney and it was the first game in the series. Before, I even bought the game I was worried about how the graphics would look and if I would even like it because it was made such a long time ago. Those worries were put to rest once I started playing. The game did what the rest of the series did which was suck me right into the storyline.

In this game is where we play the soon to be famous Phoenix Wright where in this game, he is just starting out. It was so funny watching him squirm and not finding the right words to say because he was so nervous. As I was playing the game, the different questions that have stacked up in my mind when I was playing the later versions of the Ace Attorney games finally unraveled. For example, I finally know how Miles Edgeworth and Phoenix Wright are connected to each other and how all the other characters met.

In the first one, you’ll see Edgeworth’s past come to light and watch Von Karma crack. I thought that was the most hilarious mental breakdown I have ever seen. The great and confident Von Karma finally cracks under the pressure. I had two thoughts while his breakdown and it was,” That’s so funny!” and “If only Franzika could see you now!” She would have been devastated to see her father like that and I thought would even be more sweeter the victory.

Also, for the people who already play the game I recommend playing the first game before playing the last game. If you don’t want to be totally lost in the storyline of the new Ace Attorney game called Trials and Tribulations then play the first one. A lot of what happens in the first game will be mentioned in the latest game, as well.

Attack on Titan:Part 2

Source:www.otakuhouse.com

You’ve already probably noticed that I’m just going to talk about part 2 of Attack on Titan, instead, of part 1. That’s because I’ve already talked about part 1 on my old blog which if any of you would to glance at it’s at http://www.L0VANIME.blogspot.com.

Anyway onto the story, if you’ve already watched Attack on Titan then you already know the gist of the story. The human race is at the brink of extinction because of the man-eating titans and to avoid absolute death they built a huge wall around their kingdom which held for 2000 years. It gets seriously more intense after everyone finds out about Eren’s ability to turn himself into a titan. Even after Eren saves them all and helps them reclaim some of their territory, the people in his town still hate him and call him a monster which I thought was pretty messed up. If he really was a monster then he wouldn’t have saved any of them. It got worse when the people decide that they need to hold a trial for him to see if he should live or die.

If he dies then they just lost their only hope of survival, but if they decide to let him stay alive then he would have to join the Scout Regiment. The Scout Regiment is where soldiers who choose to fight the titans outside of their walled city. Unfortunately, after the attack no one wanted to be in it for fear of getting eaten.

I’m not going to spoil want happened during the trial or what they plan to do to him for the people who haven’t watched it yet, but let me tell you that its intense and depressing. I felt bad for Eren.

Then, comes one of my favorite characters in this anime. Levi, a powerful and respected soldier of the Scout Regiment group. He’s this strict, clean freak who always has a sour look on his face. But, for some reason cares about Eren and doesn’t seem to be afraid of him. My second favorite character in the Scout Regiment would have to be Hange. She’s always really happy, especially, when titans are involved. She’s like the scientist of the group, but don’t be fooled she’s just as lethal as the rest of them.

I don’t know which moment I liked better in part 2 of Attack on Titan, it would either have to be when a female titan appeared. Yes, I said a female titan appears out of no where kicking everyone’s ass. Or at the season finale, when Eren and the female titan face off in titan forms. I’m not going to reveal the secret identity of the other titan, you’re going to have to see for yourself.

My only problem with this anime would have to be that their aren’t enough episodes. The season is over and there is no sign of anymore episode or part 3 coming out the woodwork. They left behind too many questions and not enough answers, so I’ll be anxiously waiting for more episodes. Until next time.

Joushi Tono Hitoban

If I had anything to say about this manga, then it would be that it’s funny, heart warming and a little messed up. The reason why I say that this story is a little messed up is because of Takagi. Takagi is our main character’s, Konduo, boss and worst nightmare.

Poor Kondou is the only person in the company that gets yelled and tortured by Takagi. For some strange reason, he’s nice to everyone else except him. Since the beginning I thought this was Takagi’s way of saying that he liked Konduo and that’s why he treats him differently from everyone else. Then, why doesn’t he just tell him, instead, of making Kondou’s life miserable as much as possible?

The answer is that Takagi is a sadist.

Your going to see a lot of that in this manga. I felt so sorry for him while I read it. From all this bullying, Kondou’s has developed this little habit where he goes to a local bar after work everyday, so he can drown away his sorrows. Also, so he can rant and complain to anyone that will listen to him about how horrible Takagi is.If you think that Takagi’s sadism is messed up, you won’t believe what happens to him next?

Warning: Spoiler ahead!

Not only does he not get home one night. But, he ends up getting picked up by Takagi and then wakes up finding himself in his bed naked! I liked how Takagi kind of played with his mind after that. Konduo wasn’t quite sure if they did do it or not. Takagi neither confirmed or denied it either. He just played it off like nothing happened. He still even treats him the same and never mentions it.

I felt so bad for him because he has to deal with this evil mastermind everyday. This manga would be M for mature because your going to see a lot of action in the bedroom (if you know what I mean). Also, I would like to hint that there is going to be a bit of a love triangle introduced into this story, but not much though. I wish they let that stay in there for a bit more. Also, I think that they could have gone a few chapters more before ending it. Other than that this was a good read. A short, but a good read nonetheless.

I would love some feedback from, you guys. To see how I’m doing or if anyone has any requests that they would like for me to talk about.

Fairy Tail

Source: http://www.mangauk.com

This popular show is centered around a group of wizards that take jobs posted at their guild. Their guild is called Fairy Tail and according to the story, theirs is really famous and for good reason.

The wizards that work at Fairy Tail are said to be so powerful and crazy that everyone says that they wouldn’t be surprised if they destroyed whole cities trying to complete their missions. Now, don’t get me wrong they aren’t evil they just over do it to the point of no return. This also puts them on the council’s radar constantly. For people, who don’t know about the magic council are a powerful group of wizards that act as the police, the jury and judge. They make sure that all the wizards around the world are following the rules.

Anyway, the main people in this anime are Lucy (the celestial wizard), Natsu (the fire wizard), Gray (the ice wizard), Erza (weapon wizard) and Happy (the talking, flying cat). I don’t know which one would be my top favorite its a tie between Natsu and Gray. I like Lucy too, but she isn’t all that powerful. Her magic is convenient sometimes, but most of the time its pretty much useless. I think that its funny that she seems to be the only normal person in Fairy Tail whose trying to get along with everyone. She gets so freaked out with just about everything that they do. Also, I was surprised that once upon a time she was thinking of joining Phantom Lord, the rival wizard guild against Fairy Tail.

When I saw how people in Phantom Lord worked I already knew she wasn’t a good fit. They were all doom and gloom and she’s all perky and sunshine.

There are so many unique characters at Fairy Tail. The show is hilarious, adventurous and full of action and magic. I can’t get enough of it! I can’t wait to see the second season to see what happens next. I have strong hopes that one day that Natsu will beat Erza and make it to the second floor of the guild. Also, hoping that Lucy and Natsu get together one day. Natsu may not realize it, but I think those two were meant to be together.

Fairy Tail is definitely a must watch. Trust me, you won’t regret it. Especially, if you like fighting, magic, adventure and plenty of mystery.
