This game was developed by Nihon Falcom and I have to say that I really loved this game a lot. Their were so many good things about it that I was kind of sad and frustrated when it ended when it did and I’ll tell you why later. But first the story itself………

It first starts out kind of normal, you know the new kid who we know as Rean comes to Thor’s Academy, a military school, to better himself and all that but during his first day seven students including himself get randomly selected to form a new class called Class VII. In this school, your social status decided which class you would be in. The royals or really rich nobles would be Class 1, Nobles who aren’t as rich are in class 2 and so on and so forth until it gets to Class 6 which you can probably guess are the poor, common people. So, the board of directors decided to see what would happen if randomly selected students from different social classes were to be put together in one class.

And so Class VII was born and so does the trouble. Obviously, the students fight amongst themselves while trying to get to know each other. Also, fighting off monsters and terrorists that are trying to invade their country. This group has a knack into getting into trouble, but then again it wouldn’t be much of an action game if they never did get into some kind of trouble now would it?

What I liked about this game were the different characters, the dating sim likeness they put in the game where you had to keep spending time with one of your friends to increase the bond between you and the storyline. Man, the ending to Trails of Cold Steel really got me. First off, I wasn’t expecting so many people to being bad guys in the end and if you’ve haven’t played the game yet and are planning to in the near future then you’ll never guess who C turns out to be. I was frustrated and shocked how the entire story in the game did a total 180 on me. I wanted to see what it would happen so bad that I bought the second game in the series to see what happened to everyone.

Yes! There is a second game to series out there!

Many types of gamers could definitely get into it. If you like good storyline but don’t really care about the battles then theirs an easy mode for you and vice versa. If you like sim dating games or anything similar I would recommend this game. So far no true love interest has appeared but it might be getting there. Also, this would be a good game for beginners or for people who simply enjoy a good rpg game like myself.

To tell you the truth, I wouldn’t be surprised if this were to become an anime or something because it certainly has the potential to be one. The first game in the series has been beaten and now its on to the next one! What will happen to Rean and his friends this time?
