RIME

mobygames.comWarning: This post does contain spoilers!!!

Hello everyone!

Today’s game is going to be about the adorable RIME game that was developed by Tequila Works and Tantalus Media. I know I should have talked about this game a long time ago, but you guys know how it is outside of the internet. We got to deal with things in reality, ugh!

Anyway, I really loved this game it was so cute and adorable with a hint of mystery. It’s about a boy who washed up on the shore on an island that looks like had an ancient civilization on it at one point. Obviously, he’s trying to find a way off the island with the help of a spirit fox. As the game progresses, you can’t help but make up your story about what happened and what’s going on with this island.

My theory I got was that this was an ancient civilization that fell because they couldn’t get anymore power from the tower. As the civilization died the royal family was lost and forgotten, but destiny has brought the lost heir back to the island hundred of years later. So, he can restore it back to its former glory.

gameup24.wordpress.comThat’s what I got out of it, but found out in the end that I was wwwaaayyyy off from the truth. With the island expanding into a world and with unknown dark, blob monsters chasing me all over the place the ending revealed to me the truth of the story. It turns out the boy was dead all along and he was being guided by the fox through what I’m guessing was limbo to reach heaven. Each new part of the island represented one of the 5 stages of grief and the blob monsters represented the dark souls that lost on the way to heaven which is why they were chasing him everywhere. It was kind of a ‘if I’m not going to make it neither are you’ situation, so they wanted to drag him down.

Basically, the boy knew he was dead but didn’t want to accept it and tried to find a way back to his father. In the end, he finally accepted that not only was he dead, but was never going to go back to the land of the living and accepted his fate and went to heaven.

When I saw these scenes at the end that put it all together I was like “Nnnnnnnnoooooooo”. I was so mad that we went though all that and not get a happy ending and to find out that he was dead the whole time. You really get attached to him and the fox and some of these puzzles got me a little. The most frustrating puzzles were the ones where I was getting chased by the giant bird all the time, you couldn’t go anywhere without it on you ass.

Even if you’re not the type of player that likes to make sure you collect everything in the game, I really recommend that you do because it gives vital hints to what happened in reality. This is a game for everyone especially for beginner players that like adventure and puzzle games. I really liked this game, it really played with my heart in this one and I hope when you guys play it, you’ll like it just as much.

Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception

N4G.comJust finished this graphic novel game called, ” Utawarerumono” developed by Sting. It came out recently and has been the talk of the gaming town for everyone to play. When I first saw it I didn’t know what to think of it, so like always when I’m not sure about a game I go ahead and watch the trailer and see if its good or not. I was kind of put back because the trailer made it look so innocent looking for me, but when you look at the back of the cover it, obviously, says partial nudity, sexual themes, violence, etc, etc.

So, why is that?

Could they not find the right moments that would hint at that? Just to show you what I mean I’m going to show you this trailer for all you folks who haven’t seen or heard of the game yet. If you have then, you can go right ahead and skip over it.

Since, this is graphic novel game I already knew that their would be a lot of talking and cut scenes in the game which I was totally prepared for. What I wasn’t expecting was actually fighting in RPG fighting style battles. I was totally happy with that development, since most graphic novel games don’t let the players do this. At the same time, I was kind of disappointed because the battles are far apart from each other and it was more like I was playing chess than anything. If you’ve already played it then you know what I’m talking about. If I had to guess, I would say that I fought about 8 times in the entire game.

DualShockers.comMy favorite characters to use to fight with and in the story were Oshtor, Kuon(aka secret badass), Atuy( aka the mad princess) and the twins Saraana and Uruuru. Before, I get into them though let me bring you up to speed with the story. It starts with a man waking up on top of a snowy mountain who is later called, “Haku”. He’s wearing nothing but hospital robes, has no memory of who he is or why he’s there in the first place and you can tell right away that he doesn’t fit in whatever world he’s stumbled upon. Later, he gets rescued by Kuon from a giant red slime monster which I still think to this day was trying to tell him something. My theory is that it knew him and was trying to speak to him because it probably hadn’t seen him in forever. That scene was both in the anime and in the game and while the game story progressed I became more confident in my theory that the red slime was someone he used to know.

No, I’m not going to start talking about the anime, too. Sorry, but that rant is for another time and if I start comparing the two we’re going to be here all god damn day. So, moving on…….

Utawarerumono Mask of DeceptionAfter, being saved from death, Kuon vows to become his guardian and not leave him alone until she is sure that he can make it on his own. Thus begins their journey to the imperial capital, where they meet a lot of strange and strong people. Oh yeah, forgot to mention, but it seems Haku is the only live human around. Everyone else looks human, but they all have tails, cat-like ears and amazing strength. On this journey to find work, he discovers conspiracies, secrets, new friends and his forgotten memories.

The story behind this game will leave you at the edge of your chair and wondering WHAT THE FUCK IS GOING ON?! There are a lot of touching and sad moments in this game that will leave you teary eyed and moments that make you go NNNNOOOOOOO! If you love a good story then I would definitely play this game and if you end up being in love with it like I did and want to know if their is a sequel then you’re in luck because there is one. The sequel ,” Mask of Truth”, comes on September 5th.

I’m totally pumped up for that and I hope you all are, too!

Atelier Sophie: The Alchemist and the Mysterious Book

Steam.comThis game I ended up buying recently and I just wanted to try it out and see how it is. It called, “Atelier Sophie”, and it was developed by Gust Co. Ltd. I could right away from looking at the cover that this game was set in a gentler pace than what I was used to in RPG games, but I decided to give it a shot anyway.

It revolves around Sophie, whose a young girl who is a novice in alchemy and after her grandma’s death, she made it her life goal to become the best alchemist around so everyone can depend on her like they did when her grandma was still around. Right as she was working on that plan, she discovers a book she’s never seen before in her shop and it starts flying and talking to her! Plachta is what the book likes to be called and sadly she’s lost all of her memories of the last 500 years.

Sophie decides to help her regain her lost memories and in exchange Plachta teaches Sophie better recipes and skills for alchemy. As the story progresses, they find out that Plachta used to be a human and a very powerful alchemist. Also, she remembered that she was the creator of the “Cauldron of Knowledge”, which is a device that boosts a alchemist’s power or even let’s a person who has no talent in alchemy actually be able to use it.

When Sophie heard this she wanted to get the Cauldron of Knowledge in order to turn Plachta back into a human. Until then, she had to make due with making a doll for her in order to move around more. Here’s something else that I think Sophie should have also been thinking when she heard Plachta’s story after regaining some of her memories. If someone went to all the trouble of moving their soul into a random book and making sure that they lost their freaking memories, I would think that their was a very IMPORTANT reason for that, don’t you? No one just makes them have amnesia for nothing. Obviously, she either wanted to forget something so she wouldn’t be tempted to do it again or someone made her forget and could mean big trouble for Sophie if they happen to still be looking for her after all this time.

Kei Tecmo.comThis girl is so soft-hearted that I can’t believe no one has come to swindle her yet in this game. It made want to slap her just to see if she would get angry or something. Personally, I don’t like Sophie’s character all that much, if you ask me. For an experienced gamer like myself, I’ve seen so many types of characters throughout different games with compelling backstories, emotional twists and watching character development throughout the story and other stuff, too. Sophie’s personality doesn’t seem to have that though.

So far, this girl has done nothing, but smile or be shocked, that’s it! If you watch her face you see that she still all smiles, even though, she’s thinking of something sad or something that makes her angry. It makes me think that all she can do is smile and nothing else. If they couldn’t do anything about her forever happy face, then at least make the story more in her favor. For example, she could be putting on a happy face all the time even in sad times because she still has hope in her heart that her missing dad or mom will come back home one day and tell everyone where she/he has been this whole time (both her parents are dead in the story by the way).  Something like that would have helped show her character in a different light than what I’m seeing.

The-O Network.comOther than that their nothing really wrong with the game. It’s definitely a game for beginners or for people who want a change of pace in gaming. This game can become very addicting if your one of those people who like to beat a game as fast as possible. Be prepared though, you will be running around a lot in this game. Enjoy!

Little Nightmares

cracked-games.orgThis time around I’m going to be talking about the popular and recently out game called, “Little Nightmares”. The game was developed by Tarsier Studios in which I appreciate your guys hard work in making this game for us. I was interested in this game the moment the demo came it, so I was really happy when I heard that this game finally came out.

So, the story of the game itself is really up to your imagination, but I’m going to tell you guys what I think was happening in the game. You wake up as this little girl wearing a yellow raincoat. Yes, I say she because it feels like it’s a she. So, I say it’s a SHE!!! Their has been a debate what gender the little person is and I vote she because she a she vibe from the get go.

dualshockers.comAnyway, this is a stealth/puzzle game where you have to sneak past these gross, deformed fat people who want to kidnap you for some odd reason. I’m good at stealth, puzzles not so much. It takes a person like me a minute to figure some stuff out, not going to lie to you. While your venturing on what you finally figure out is a ship, you come to realize that the reason all this fat people keep trying capture is so they can eat you because you’re a delicacy in this world. So freaking delicious that they’ve got (I thought this was a daycare for the employees kids or something, at first. Okay, leave me alone.) a whole smuggling ring operation going on where they take kids, feed them and fatten them up until their ready to put in the oven.

Messed up, isn’t it?

I know the theme of this game is dark and creepy, but they made something so damn dark that you couldn’t even see where some stuff was nor where you were going despite having a lighter. You never see the faces of the children nor the main character’s. Even though, the game was meant to be creepy it also had a lot of funny and charming elements to it, too. I always laughed when the chefs would see me and make that funny elephant sound.

At one point in the game, it kind of felt like you entered Spirited Away for a moment because everything takes a Japanese style turn and the head mistress of the ship is a geisha with a white mask. If you look closely at some of their faces, some of them look like Japanese demon masks. I thought it was cool but kind of out of place with the rest of the game art style and if you’ve played the game then you’ll understand what I mean. Also, I’m very curious at what type of creature she is because I thought she was just a regular child surrounded by giant adults that want to eat her, but then whenever she gets hungry bad things start to happen to the point where you question if she’s actually good or not.

gamerevolution.comI would say she’s kinds like a vampire but kind off not. I’m not really sure but at the end she becomes totally badass and gets her revenge on all those people who tried to eat her throughout the entire game which I thought was awesome. In my mind, she may be a being that can suck the life out of you and steal powers, but she still gave those people what they deserved so good for her!

I really loved this game, its creepy charm and how dark the story becomes as time goes along. The controls are really simple, so even a beginner can play this game as long as they don’t mind the horror element. Really excited to see if another similar game is coming out anytime soon and I hope you enjoy Little Nightmares.

Persona 5

WikipediaThe new game Persona 5 was developed by Atlus and is totally incredible. This game is about a group of outcasts that become famous Phantom Thieves that gain the power to steal and change the hearts of evil people. The game starts out really epic and weird only because the main character is trying to escape a casino while avoiding monsters and you have no freaking clue to what is going on.

Crazy, right?

I wasn’t too surprised since this is the fifth game in the Persona series so I was kind of used to the weirdness already. But, this is the first time that they’ve tried telling the whole story as a flashback. I felt bad for this guy in the beginning when you see how shitty his life becomes just because he wanted to do the right thing and now he’s being punished for it. What made it even worse was that for a hot minute nobody asked him for his side of the story!

Don’t worry guys things get better.

Youtube.comLater, I don’t know why but Igor (Prison Master/Velvet Room Master) chose him to have persona powers in order to “rehabilitate” him from ruin. How that works…..I don’t know but he just goes with it. Now, his new friends and himself are going into Metaverse which the other world is called and finding the most rotten of people in order to change their hearts and confess their crimes.

I think my guy is pretty calm and laid back for someone in his situation. He kind of just goes with the flow of things which is cool. Anyway, the game itself is pretty addicting and there is A LOT to do besides killing shadows and stealing hearts the whole time. While you’re not fighting in the Metaverse, you have to help him have and keep a decent social life in the real world; doing so will get you extra things in the other world.

After, a marathon of playing the game I realized two things that most of the shadows in the game looked really, really similar to the franchise game called, ‘Megami Tensei’, and that some parts of the soundtrack sounded really similar to another game called, “Catherine”. It wasn’t until later that my dumb self finally figured out that all three games were made by the same people.

PersonaCentral.comAnyway, this game has an awesome storyline, good comic-booky like graphics and is really easy to play. I think they’ve learned from Persona 4 when it came to difficulty settings because this time it goes from safe to expert. So, even if you’re a total beginner at gaming you’ll do just fine in this game. If you love a good storyline or RPG games, then you better get to this one fast!

The Nonary Game: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors

Loom Knits.comHello! Hope you guys are enjoying this lovely morning like I am.

Recently, played this game called the “999 Nonary game” created by Chunsoft. I don’t know if I ever talked about the previous games in the series, but there are similar games to this one that came out in the past, but I’m going to just stick with talking with this for now.

This one starts out just like the previous ones where the main character which in this case is a guy names, ” Junpei”, wakes up confused and locked in a place that they’ve never seen before with eight other people. The only thing that they can remember is that they were kidnapped by a guy wearing a gas mask. The mysterious kidnapper announces to them that they are going to play the “Nonary Game” where you solve puzzles in different rooms to try to find a way out of where your being kept.

Zeroescape.wikia.comSince, it’s a nonary game where everything has to do with nine the kidnapper tells them that they only have nine hours to find their way off the ship that their on before he sinks it and they all drown. Forced to work together without knowing anything about each other, they help each other in trying to escape. As you play the game though you realize that theirs more going on when people start dying and you realize that people are keeping some important secrets from you.

The only thing that I didn’t like about this one is that there a lot of math and science stuff that goes on trying to solve some of these puzzles. If there is anything that I really despise in this world, its math! The science and science facts that they kept throwing at me I really didn’t mind but the math puzzles sucked ass.

If you’ve never played this series before then I’ll let you all know that this has several endings. All of them are bad except for one and if you want to put in the extra work to get all the endings then go ahead but for this one it requires you redo the game over and over for to get a different ending. I’m kind of the one time gamer when it comes to things like this. But, you guys can go right ahead if you want to.

If your squeamish when it comes to blood and murder then I don’t recommend this but if your into it and solving the mysteries and solving puzzles then you’ll have a hell of time with this one. I really enjoyed the story and the different characters and how everything gets revealed in the end. The endings are always mind-blowing, I love it except the math. I hated the math parts but I still hope you guys enjoy the game.

Resident Evil 7

The new horror game called ‘Resident Evil 7: Biohazard’ was made by Capcom and this is being played by everyone player and their mom right now and for good reason. I really like this game because of their new take on zombies all together and it keeps you wondering on what the hell is going on in this game.

The story revolves around a guy named Ethan who is trying to find his wife who has been missing for 3 years. Then, out of the blue he gets a e-mail from her saying,” Come get me”. So, he travels all the way to Louisiana to go pick her up. Now I don’t know about you guys but if my wife called me after missing for 3 years telling me to come get her with no freaking explanation sure enough I would either ignore it thinking its some kind of prank or either take it to the police. Instead, of being a total dumbass and driving all the way to Louisiana without telling anyone where your going to go pick her up.

All throughout the game I’m just thinking ‘Ethan, you idiot’,’Why doesn’t anything freak you out’ and ‘Your a total badass’. One of the things that got me was Ethan’s natural steel trap on his own fear. Even with mutated zombies, mutilation and what not going on in the house he doesn’t really have any reaction to any of it. Even when he was stabbed in the hand the first time, he had such a mellow like reaction to it that I just had to rationalize it and say it’s probably adrenaline because if that was me you know I would be crying and screaming.

Also, I loved the zombies in this game. Their are two types: the black goo mutated zombies with razor sharp teeth and the intelligent humanoid zombies who you couldn’t tell were zombies unless they start cutting off their own limbs or something. I think the slogan for this game is that famous moment in the beginning where Jack knocks him out and says,” Welcome to the family, son”. You hear that everywhere if you’re talking about Resident Evil 7 and no players you can’t avoid that moment no matter what you do.

Spoiler Alert in Coming

The only thing that I wish they would explain is Lucas. After you beat Lucas in his game, he runs away but you never see him again so I just want to know what happened to him? Did he die or was he turned back to normal after defeating grandma? Was he working for Umbrella? Will we see him again? Was he really a zombie or was he just a super crazy guy? They never really answer these questions and there is talk of Lucas being put in a DLC. Maybe they will answer everyone’s questions during that.

This is definitely one of the best Resident Evil games that they’ve ever made. If you don’t think you play the game but like watching the gameplay instead then I recommend Pewdiepie, Markiplier or Jacksepticeye. Whenever I want to watch gameplay I always go to them because their freaking awesome Youtubers. This is a really cool game, but not for people who don’t like horror games or jump scares. I hope you all enjoy it!

Tricos Past Theory

Hello again everybody!

I know what your all thinking right now. Oh my god, two posts in two days what in the world is going on, right? For this post I wanted to make it as fast as possible for your enjoyment and not ponder about what I thought when it came to “The Nest” in the Last Guardian.

Please remember that this is my own theory on what I think happened in the past before the fateful meet up, so feel free to agree or disagree if you want. Also, if you have not played the game or watched it yet (shame on you) then some of the things I say in this would be a major spoiler for you. If you don’t really care though or have played it already then enjoy my story to your heart’s content.

Okay, this is what I think happened…….

Source: guides.gamepressure.com

A long, long time ago there lived this great city surrounded by tall mountain walls. Within the city, the people were protected by the giant Tricos and the possessed stone statues. I think the Tricos were used for a lot of things when their were people around because for one someone had to have put that armor on them, so the Tricos could have used to protect the city from danger, transportation if someone needed to go in or out of the city or even as pets because who wouldn’t want a lovable giant Trico to cuddle and play with.

Obviously, the people in the city made that huge tower that housed the master of the valley which controlled the Tricos if it needed to. The master needed the souls of the people to survive so it could stay in control of all the Tricos, so the master told each Trico to go into the city and pick someone to find it to. Obviously, people didn’t object because they needed the master to survive so when your chosen your swallowed by a Trico, get regurgitated into a statue which leads to the master and the master takes that person’s soul and then converts its body to some bluish type mush and sends it back to the Trico as a reward for a job well done.

The stone statues act as the master’s limbs in order to do what it needs to get done physically. Eventually, the master of the valley got really greedy and decided why doesn’t everyone become one with me and live forever or something off those lines. So, he ordered all the Tricos to take all the people to his tower so he can swallow them, too. This is why I think lots of players in the game became highly suspicious that all of the stone statues were once people.

Anyway, I think some people just got real lucky to avoid the day that everything went to hell because I said before that the Tricos might have even been used as transportation, as well. So, the lucky devils who were outside of the city for whatever reason didn’t get kidnapped and absorbed like everyone else and because they knew that the only way to get in or out of the nest is by air, they were pretty much stuck where ever they were at so they settled down and had families and life went on. Meanwhile, after the master was done with all the people in the city it had an inkling that it didn’t get everyone but knew that they weren’t in the city. So, once again it sent the Tricos out to search all over the world for the missing citizens. That’s what I think the boy was in the game; a descendant of one of the original people who used to live in the forgotten city and why when people like him get kidnapped by a Trico they just say that he was a Chosen One.

So, that’s my take on what I think happened. Did I leave anything out? I hope not. If I did please let me know and I will try to explain it as best as I can. I hope you guys have an awesome weekend!

Last Guardian

Hello everyone!

Hope all of you enjoyed the holidays and this lovely winter weather that we are still having if your anywhere near me you know what I’m talking about. Soon, it’ll be spring and I can finally shed some layers and see the sun again. So, let’s move on to the good stuff, shall we?

Since the moment this game came out I wanted to play it. Not just because it got my gamer senses tingling again but I heard nothing buzz and how awesome the game is that I just had to play it. Its been said that this game took a whole 6 years to make and its now coming out the woodwork at last. For me, if you take a whole freaking 6 years to make a game and keep telling people that this will be the most amazing game ever……you better not disappoint.

Disappoint, it did not.

I can call the Last Guardian a masterpiece of gameplay with its high quality graphics, music, storyline and AI character. This game was developed by Team Ico and SIE Japan Studio. The story revolves around a boy who if you think about it you never get to know what his name is and Trico the lovable, giant half-bird, half-mammal creature. Throughout the entire game, I kept trying to guess what combinations of animals he’s mixed with but let’s go with mammal, for now. Anyway, Trico and the boy are both trapped in these ruins and their helping each other through a series of puzzles and form an unbreakable bond of friendship along the way.

This is the type of game that makes you fall in love with the characters and also makes think hard about not only about solving the puzzles and how to get around the possessed statues that seem to have an obsession with capturing you with their ninjitsu and taking you to mystical blue door where your never seen again if your carried into it. But, it also makes you think about everything as a whole. Where did the ruins come from? Who put armor on the Tricos? Where did the people go? Why are the Tricos capturing people? Will the people come back?

While I was playing the game I made up this whole freaking theory about what happened to the civilization before Trico and the boy met up with each other if you can even call it that (if you’ve played or watched the game you know what I’m talking about). If you would like read my possible theory about the Last Guardian then just look out for my next post, Tricos Past Theory. There you’ll be able to read what I think happened to the “The Nest” before our adventure.

I have to give this game a good 9.5/10. It was awesome through and through and I would recommend anyone to play this game and give it a shot. Especially, for the people who like a good story this will warm and break your heart and put you in an emotional rollercoaster which I enjoyed very, very much. If you’ve not played this game yet then I hope that you will now and enjoy the adventure.

Republique (Thief’s Reflection)

Image result for republique the game
Source: ps4france.com        Main C: Hope

Republique was developed by Camouflaj and Logan Games. This game was good but was very similar to another game that I’ve played a while back called Thief and if you’ve played Thief then you know what I’m talking about.

Where your sneaking around almost the entire time, trying to find where to go next and only attacking when you get caught sneaking around and all that. Those traits were the same but Republique  was like the futuristic, sci-fi version of it with a different storyline and characters. The main character being a woman named Hope who was saying that people are trying to find her so they can erase her. At first, I thought she was talking about people trying to kill her but no. She literally meant erase as in wiping her memory of not just recent events but of everything about her, too.

In the game we control her and the mysterious person behind the cellphone that she keeps talking to. Our job is to help her get out of the prison city called Metamorphosis and along the way we discover how evil and corrupt the people that hold Hope there are. Hope’s character kind of pissed me off sometimes just because the way she acts during some situations. At the same time, I can understand why she is the way she is. The rest of the Pre-Cals and herself (that’s what there called) were pretty much sheltered and never got to see the rest of world, so common sense doesn’t come into play when comes to her making decisions and stuff which is why I regret pressing the ‘let Hope decide’ button when it shows up some times.

What really got me though was the ending. I always say this but I’m not going to spoil it for the people who haven’t played it yet. But, I was really pissed off at what she ended up doing in the end but at the same time I can understand so it makes me frustrated. So, for people who have played and watched the ending let me ask you, did she make the right choice?

We mess with a lot of people in this game which I enjoyed and if you into game like Thief where you sneak around and cause mischief then this is for you. But, if you don’t have not one patient bone in your body then your most likely going to get bored or get so frustrated that you end up throwing the controller across the room and into your tv (that poor tv).
