Evil Within 2: Secrets Revealed

GameDebate.comHello!

Today I’ll be talking about the new horror game ,”The Evil Within 2″ this time. Everyone has been waiting for this one for so long ever since the first one came out a couple of years back. To recap from the previous game detective Castellanos and his partners Kidman and Joseph got call about a disturbance at Beacon Mental Hospital. All three went to the hospital with the two of them not knowing what they were walking into. Notice how I say two and not three.

Anyway, Castellanos fights thru a lot of zombies and mutated monsters while trying to find his friends in that creepy, gory world he was suddenly thrown in. A lot of things happened in the last game, but in the end Ruvik the main villain escaped STEM to exact his revenge on the people who wronged him a long time ago.

Some people argue that he didn’t escape STEM because his brain was crushed at the end, but if you look at the last scene then it’s really implied that he escaped from the STEM system because over the Leslie’s mind and walked away. I really was hoping Ruvik would be in the second game, but that didn’t happen. But, then again  it probably wouldn’t make sense for him to be in this one because he did all that to get out of it.

WindowCentral.comAnyway back to the game, so in Evil Within 2 it turns out that the good detective quit his job because of a combination of what he saw in there, Kidman’s betrayal and wondering to this day if he’s still in STEM or not. Personally, I would think that was obvious because he’s not being chased by zombies and everything doesn’t look fucked up anymore but that’s just me. Since he quit, he’s been trying to find Kidman and get some answers until one day she comes to him with an offer for him help his only daughter Lily, who he thought died in a fire years ago.

Of course, he takes the job after learning Lily’s situation and dives back into the ‘new and improved’ STEM system. Not long after entering the new virtual world, he realizes that things have gone to shit in this quiet little town and he needs to find the source before everyone inside becomes a mindless zombie.

MasGamers.comSpoiler Alert Incoming!!!

I like this game because we get to have a closer look at Castellanos’s past before the Beacon Incident. In the previous game, it was only lightly brought up but I guess everyone was so curious about his backstory that they had to put in the forefront of the new game. So, many secrets are revealed in this game that it blows your mind. Some of them being that Joseph was still alive and that even though in the end Myra took over as the core and pretty much self destructed the STEM world and all the Mobius agents someone inside STEM was still alive and doing things. Who was it?

I don’t know and unless their planning on making an Evil Within 3 game, we may never know.

Also, I hoped Joseph would appear after they mentioned he was still alive but that didn’t happen either. But, I hear rumors that there is going to be a DLC about what happened to Joseph later on or maybe he might be in the third game if they decide to make another one.

This game was really good and had so many ways to play it. You want to be a ninja and so sneak kills? You can do that.

You want to blow up monsters in a blaze of glory? You can do that, too.

Are you a player who likes doing all the side quests first then the main story or vice versa? You can do either and no one would judge you for it.

I loved Castellanos’s attitude in this game. He didn’t take any shit from anybody and knew already that he was better off working alone than with anybody else unless he really had no choice in the matter. The only people that he didn’t give shit to was Hoffman and Torres and I think that’s because they made quite the impression on him during their first meeting.

This would be for seasoned gamers that like horror games and aren’t afraid to get scared at any moment. The storyline was very interesting and there are many ways to play it then just killing everything in sight. (You’ll do that anyway but still….) The options are out there. Hope you all enjoy this thrilling horror game as much as I did and I’ll see you guys next time!

Thanks for Reading!
