Everyone has bad habits here and there and for me this particular bad habit of mine sometimes gets on my last nerve because I end up getting mad at myself in the end. I don’t know if other people have a problem with this but when I’m not sure of something like a game or anime, I seem to hold off on it because I instantly think that its not my cup of tea. Later though, when I finally go fuck it and try the game or episode I get angry in the end because I find out how good it is and why I didn’t try it sooner.
That’s how I felt after watching one episode of Parasyte. After, the first episode ended I was totally hooked on it and had to see more. This was made by Hitoshi Iwaaki who created the manga and the actual anime series was created by Madhouse. This anime revolves around a teenage boy named Shinichi who is nerdy looking, nervous and friendly towards anyone that he meets. He also has a total crush on red-headed girl named Murano who for some strange reason keeps asking him from time to time,” Are you really Shinichi Izumi?”
It kind of pissed me off every time she asked throughout the entire show. I mean, why does she keep asking that? Would it make her feel different if he said no, but she already knows its him so why does she keep freaking asking him that same stupid question? I actually got really happy when he told her to shut up after she asked that same damn question for like the hundredth time to him while he was in bad ass mode. To tell you guys the truth, I really didn’t like her all that much. Everytime I saw her I always thought that something was a little off about her but I didn’t know what. Wasn’t sure if I wanted to him to end up with Kana either but I’m getting ahead of myself.
Basically, Shinichi was living an ordinary high school life up until one day he wakes up to something digging into his arm. He stopped it from going anywhere else in his body, but the next day he summed it all up as a bad dream until his arm started to transform and talk to him, at least. His arm later named Migi explains that he was going for his brain so he could take over his body and eat humans for nourishment. Later, they keep running into their more people infected and Shinichi has decided that he will get rid of as many parasite infected humans as he can.
Shinichi goes through a lot of shit in this show and sometimes you feel so bad for him. Its never revealed where the parasites come from. They never make it clear, but I’m betting that their aliens because in the first episode they were all falling from their small pods from the sky and none of them have any idea why their even there in the first place. I wish they would have hinted more but I guess we’ll never know. I really like when Shinichi was badass looking with his hair gelled back and everything, he looked really hardcore to me even his personality changed drastically. Again if you watch it or have read it, you’ll see that he goes through a lot of crap. To me it was like his own weird, parasite version of breaking down and rebelling. Again you know what I’m talking about if you’ve seen it.
There is a lot gore and action in this anime and I love it. My only wish was that he would have stayed in badass mode, but oh well. If you like mutants, action, gore and a bit of romance meshed into one then this one is definitely for you. There is so much to like about this anime its crazy, but I know it won’t get a second season.
No point, really.
The ending is so heart warming and funny at the same time that I thought I was going to cry for a minute. This is worth watching especially for people who are fans of sci-fi and horror anime. Hope you enjoy it!
