For today, I’m going to be talking about Final Fantasy XV which is the first rpg game in the final fantasy series that is an open world. If you don’t know what open world is then it’s basically when the game itself let’s explore the world itself and see other things besides the main storyline that the game provides. This is a very new element to the final fantasy series because they’ve never did it before and if would have to guess I would say that they were racking their brains on how they could make final fantasy even more awesome than it already is. Their solution: open world.
This was developed and published by Square Enix and we thank you for making this game. It is about a young prince named Noctis who sets out on a journey with his three best friends and bodyguards (Ignis, Prompto and Gladiolus) to meet his bride and childhood friend, Luna. The two of them were supposed to get married in order to restore peace between Lucis and the Imperial kingdom. Soon, after the group leaves the kingdom the Imperials set a trap and end up not only capturing Noctis’s kingdom, but kill the king, as well.
Now with no way back home without dying Noctis and the others continue their search to find Luna and go through the trials with the gods in order to receive their blessing and bring peace back to the land.
This game was trying to pull my heart strings so many times in this game especially the ending. It was so heartfelt and beautiful that it almost brought tears to my eyes. I said almost! But, the game was good nevertheless and I can’t wait to make another one like this and I don’t mean the online ones that their making nowadays, but ones like this where there is a main story and all that good stuff.
My favorite characters would have to be Gladiolus and Ardyn. Gladiolus I liked for very obvious reasons and I liked how he was always that focused and strong character, sometimes, he could be a real hard ass but he had to be for Noctis’s sake. I learned from watching them that each of Noctis friends represents what quality he needs to be a good king. Ardyn, on the other hand, who is the bad guy in this story was my other favorite and I liked him because he was a funny but mysterious villain. For the longest time in the game I couldn’t decide if he was on our side or not, but I’m going to tell you now that he’s not. He was also so casual with killing people, sabotaging plans and destroying the planet that I couldn’t help strangely liking him.
Also, for the DLCs there are some separate episodes for Noctis’s friends and their adventures when they weren’t with Noctis in the main story. You learn a lot about these characters through them. There is an Ardyn DLC that will be coming soon sometime this year in 2018 and I’m super excited about that because I really want to know about Ardyn’s past and how he became the way he is in the story.
The only things I would have to comment on is the teleporting and the loading screens. The loading screens were very bi-polar where it would take 10 seconds one time then take a whole five minutes the next and was very annoying to me. Also, the teleporting function, don’t get me wrong it was very useful for those long journeys across the land to complete missions, but I didn’t understand the game’s logic on what I could and couldn’t teleport to. For example, it wouldn’t let me teleport to a place that would take forever by car, but would let me teleport to one pretty much down the street which made no sense to me. Other than that this was a very good game and worth playing.
If you’ve played it already then you already know how good this game is, but if you haven’t and your into RPGs then give this game a try, you won’t regret it. Can’t wait for the next one to come out!
