(C) Control

This anime is called, “C-Control” and it gets pretty crazy pretty quick like most anime shows. It revolves around a college student named Kimimaro Yoga who is like everyone else in the world just trying to get by in life when it comes to the bills. Even though, he works two jobs he still flat broke almost all the time until a strange man by the name of Masakaki appeared at his front door one day.

Basically, he offered the chance for him to make big money in no time flat which we all know is sketchy at best. But, Masakaki didn’t really give him much of a choice when he put a whole bunch of money in his bank account and Kimimaro had no choice but to use it. The moment he did, it was game over.

Now, that he’s used the money, he has no choice now, but to join the Financial District and play the game. The Financial District isn’t a place, but a whole different world that other people like him go to in order to play, gamble and earn more money. Their are only three ways to earn money in the district. You can gamble it, you can get a loan from the bank (which no one does because you have to pay it all back in one go at some point) or win a deal. Deals are mandatory battles between people who fight with their assets.

Everyone gets an asset and each one takes a different form. For Kimimaro, his asset took the shape of a young long-horned girl named Mashu. Anyway, when you fight you fight with power and money. You buy abilities with your current budget and every time you take a hit, you lose money, too. The fight is on a timer so if you end up losing a lot more than your opponent by the timer is up you claim bankruptcy. In that world, that is the last thing you want to happen because the Financial District takes your future as collateral. Meaning whatever good stuff you had going for you in reality the “bank” will alter reality to take it away.

From what I watched the scale kind of goes like this: if you don’t have much or you just started in the district and you lose the alteration in reality might not be that bad compared to a person who has a large fortune and claims bankruptcy. The only people who can see or tell a change has happened reality are the people that go to the Financial District, but normal people can’t tell that something has changed, even when a store that you might have just walked out of goes from being a doughnut shop to a sushi restaurant.

Warning: Spoiler Ahead!

Well, it gets worse. Later, in the show you come to realize that the financial district has had a hand in erasing tons of people even countries. The district can alter reality to make people think a certain person never existed, so it’s not too far-fetched that they can make countries disappear. Turns out that if a certain countries Financial District goes broke then an alter reality storm breaks free called,”C”, breaks free from that world into reality to take out that entire country.

To make matters even worse because C took out an entire country all the money and stocks end up effecting other countries that try to make their financial district’s go broke, so guess what happens next……..? That’s right folks C starts moving around trying to take out other countries!

This money hungry anime is totally epic and I totally recommend it for any anime lover out there to go watch it. It really makes you think about your money and your future to the point where you become self-conscious of it. Now there is one thing I have to ask though before I wrap this up for you guys. What do you think is better? Having all the money in the world, but no future or having a future and be flat broke?
