Karneval

The anime called, “Karneval”, is exactly what it intended it to be while I was reading it, A big freaking carnival.

The story starts out with a thief named Gareki whose intention was to break into a rich lady’s house and steal all her priceless possessions. You the usual thing that thieves do. But, what he didn’t expect to find was a clueless white-haired and red-eyed boy named Nai and the rich lady he was stealing from to be a crazy, psychotic monster.

I wasn’t just calling her a monster to say that she was a bitch…..well she was that too, but that’s not the point. She was actually a REAL monster in disguise who tried to kill the both of them. Anyway, after that Gareki and Nai were practically inseperable after they made a deal with each other.

Nai was a clueless boy who knows nothing about the world or himself. All he knows was that a guy named Karuko was taking care of him when one day he mysteriously vanished and never returned. The only thing he left behind was a Circus ID bracelet which Gareki now wants. But, Nai says if he helps find Karuko then he can have it which leads to them traveling together.

I loved watching these together because Nai’s naïve and clueless nature drove Gareki up  the wall. Gareki can get easily annoyed and his annoyance level hits the rooftops when they meet Circus. Circus is an elite organization that goes after highly wanted criminals with special abilities like the rich monster lady in the beginning. Everything about Circus reminded me of an Alice and Wonderland themed Circus. Their organization also performs for the people to let them know that their mission was an success.

Speaking of people, my favorite person in Circus would have to be Yogi. His happy and go lucky attitude gets on Garkei’s nerves so much he practically goes crazy with anger everytime that Yogi is around. Also, Yogi apparently has a whole other personality that is only awakened when he’s near death. They call him ‘Silver Yogi’ when he’s like this. The regular Yogi is a grown playful child and Silver Yogi is like a child that has some serious trust issues. But, their both awesome in their own ways.

Theirs so much mystery and action spinning around this anime that I can’t get enough of it. Its like every time a question is answered another one arises right after. I would definitely recommend this and yes it is also a manga and an anime so you could enjoy both if you want. I hope you enjoy this action packed fantasy world as much as I did.

Thanks for Reading!
