Welcome, welcome, welcome!
Recently, I just got done watching an anime called, “Aggretsuko”, that I was really on the fence about. The main reason was because of the fact that the anime style wasn’t the usual kind that I would watch. At first glance, it looks more like a cartoon than an anime, but once I was done watching the first episode two things went through my mind.
One: This is definitely an anime show.
Two: Totally in love with this show!
It’s about a red panda named, “Retsuko who works a regular nine to five office job for a company. But, what no ones knows about her is that she loves singing death metal karaoke whenever she’s stressed about something. After, I watched her scream-sing about how shitty her boss was in the company building bathroom, I knew I had to see more and before I knew it I went through the entire first season.
Now when she’s not working at the company in the day, she’s at her favorite karaoke bar at night; singing her stress away. She goes there so often that the employees know her by name. Retsuko suppresses a lot of her emotions during work because she’s afraid that if she was herself and said what was actually on her mind during work, she would be fired and not have any friends or any kind of social life.
I can say we can all relate to her in some kind of way. When you really want to say or do what you really feel, but your mental filter comes in, so you don’t. Anyway, I really like the characters in this show if I had to my favorites it would be the trio (Fenneko, Retsuko and Haida).
Fenneko is a fox that should quit her job and be a detective instead. Reason being she has a habit of going through extreme means to find any info or dirt on any person that catches her eye. Retsuko can’t even change her daily routine without Fenneko finding out about it. You can’t hide anything from this girl.
Haida is a hyena and has been Retsuko’s friend and co-worker for the last five years. Has time passes you realize that he’s developed a crush on Retsuko and doesn’t know how to confess his feelings for her. As you watch him, you realize how good of a match they would make if they got together. She’s a death metal singer and he dresses like a rocker when he’s not at work and plays an electric guitar.
Plus if you listen to their voices when they say Retsuko’s name it kind of sounds like their saying red skull instead. It’s really funny considering her hobby. This show is really enjoyable and I have to thank the creators for making this and Netflix for airing it into the world and into our hearts. The 2nd season doesn’t come out until 2019 and until then I’ll patiently be waiting.
