ARK: Survival Evolved

Hello and welcome everyone!

I hope you guys are excited for Christmas this year and while you wait for the inevitable holidays, I’ll start talking about the new game Ark: Survival Evolved that was developed by Studio Wildcard. While we were all waiting for it to come out it was the talk of the town. You couldn’t believe all the times I kept here over and over from my friends that ” I should play Ark” or ” You play this game, it’s awesome!”

With all the hype and excitement that was surrounding the game, I got really curious on how it actually is when it did come out.  Personally, I don’t play these types of games on the usual which if you didn’t know its a action-adventure survival game. But, I will if something really catches my eye about the game itself.

After a couple of hours of gameplay, I found that I was really disappointed in what I saw. This was meant to be a multiplayer game but with that feature if you do happen to be playing by yourself the developers could have added some kind of side or main storyline into the game to keep the player entertained enough to find other player to play with. While playing I felt two constant emotions frustration or boredom. In the beginning there is no tutorial and they make you figure everything out by yourselves and if you never figure it…….well then you don’t last long.  Whether it was intentional or not for that feature, we may never know but I didn’t like the fact that it acted like I was a seasoned player of previous Ark so in turn should have already have an idea what was what.

Boredom comes naturally in a game like this when you do the same thing over and over with no change. When you do finally get a hang of the game and it seems like nothing can touch you, it gets boring fast. Quickly, you try to find something entertaining to do while again wait for other players that want to hang out with you but as time drags on nothing seems to catch your attention long enough. I literally played like that for a couple of hours before I told myself I had to stop the madness and end it. So I killed myself (in the game of course) a couple of times in different ways before deciding that this game isn’t for me.

The only thing this game gets praise for its great graphics and the gaming potential that it does have. I’m not sure if this was a good game but wrong type of gamer type situation because some people out there do actually enjoy this. I just don’t know how. This game is for very seasoned type gamers that actually are into these types of games or have played the previous Ark games and know how to get the most out of it.
