Little Nightmares

cracked-games.orgThis time around I’m going to be talking about the popular and recently out game called, “Little Nightmares”. The game was developed by Tarsier Studios in which I appreciate your guys hard work in making this game for us. I was interested in this game the moment the demo came it, so I was really happy when I heard that this game finally came out.

So, the story of the game itself is really up to your imagination, but I’m going to tell you guys what I think was happening in the game. You wake up as this little girl wearing a yellow raincoat. Yes, I say she because it feels like it’s a she. So, I say it’s a SHE!!! Their has been a debate what gender the little person is and I vote she because she a she vibe from the get go.

dualshockers.comAnyway, this is a stealth/puzzle game where you have to sneak past these gross, deformed fat people who want to kidnap you for some odd reason. I’m good at stealth, puzzles not so much. It takes a person like me a minute to figure some stuff out, not going to lie to you. While your venturing on what you finally figure out is a ship, you come to realize that the reason all this fat people keep trying capture is so they can eat you because you’re a delicacy in this world. So freaking delicious that they’ve got (I thought this was a daycare for the employees kids or something, at first. Okay, leave me alone.) a whole smuggling ring operation going on where they take kids, feed them and fatten them up until their ready to put in the oven.

Messed up, isn’t it?

I know the theme of this game is dark and creepy, but they made something so damn dark that you couldn’t even see where some stuff was nor where you were going despite having a lighter. You never see the faces of the children nor the main character’s. Even though, the game was meant to be creepy it also had a lot of funny and charming elements to it, too. I always laughed when the chefs would see me and make that funny elephant sound.

At one point in the game, it kind of felt like you entered Spirited Away for a moment because everything takes a Japanese style turn and the head mistress of the ship is a geisha with a white mask. If you look closely at some of their faces, some of them look like Japanese demon masks. I thought it was cool but kind of out of place with the rest of the game art style and if you’ve played the game then you’ll understand what I mean. Also, I’m very curious at what type of creature she is because I thought she was just a regular child surrounded by giant adults that want to eat her, but then whenever she gets hungry bad things start to happen to the point where you question if she’s actually good or not.

gamerevolution.comI would say she’s kinds like a vampire but kind off not. I’m not really sure but at the end she becomes totally badass and gets her revenge on all those people who tried to eat her throughout the entire game which I thought was awesome. In my mind, she may be a being that can suck the life out of you and steal powers, but she still gave those people what they deserved so good for her!

I really loved this game, its creepy charm and how dark the story becomes as time goes along. The controls are really simple, so even a beginner can play this game as long as they don’t mind the horror element. Really excited to see if another similar game is coming out anytime soon and I hope you enjoy Little Nightmares.

The Nonary Game: 9 Hours, 9 Persons, 9 Doors

Loom Knits.comHello! Hope you guys are enjoying this lovely morning like I am.

Recently, played this game called the “999 Nonary game” created by Chunsoft. I don’t know if I ever talked about the previous games in the series, but there are similar games to this one that came out in the past, but I’m going to just stick with talking with this for now.

This one starts out just like the previous ones where the main character which in this case is a guy names, ” Junpei”, wakes up confused and locked in a place that they’ve never seen before with eight other people. The only thing that they can remember is that they were kidnapped by a guy wearing a gas mask. The mysterious kidnapper announces to them that they are going to play the “Nonary Game” where you solve puzzles in different rooms to try to find a way out of where your being kept.

Zeroescape.wikia.comSince, it’s a nonary game where everything has to do with nine the kidnapper tells them that they only have nine hours to find their way off the ship that their on before he sinks it and they all drown. Forced to work together without knowing anything about each other, they help each other in trying to escape. As you play the game though you realize that theirs more going on when people start dying and you realize that people are keeping some important secrets from you.

The only thing that I didn’t like about this one is that there a lot of math and science stuff that goes on trying to solve some of these puzzles. If there is anything that I really despise in this world, its math! The science and science facts that they kept throwing at me I really didn’t mind but the math puzzles sucked ass.

If you’ve never played this series before then I’ll let you all know that this has several endings. All of them are bad except for one and if you want to put in the extra work to get all the endings then go ahead but for this one it requires you redo the game over and over for to get a different ending. I’m kind of the one time gamer when it comes to things like this. But, you guys can go right ahead if you want to.

If your squeamish when it comes to blood and murder then I don’t recommend this but if your into it and solving the mysteries and solving puzzles then you’ll have a hell of time with this one. I really enjoyed the story and the different characters and how everything gets revealed in the end. The endings are always mind-blowing, I love it except the math. I hated the math parts but I still hope you guys enjoy the game.

Those Virtual Villagers

I love and hate those Virtual Villager games that the company Last Day of Work, LLC make. Their are about four games in all in the series with each having a different story and puzzle the player must figure out before their entire village dies from hunger or disease. I think depending on the game decides how hard the challenge is.

For example, I thought that Virtual Villagers 2 was super hard because almost every villager was a child. If you haven’t played these games before then I must tell you that children can’t do anything except run around and pick items on the ground. So, I have to wait painstakingly for them to grow up and hope that they don’t starve to death.

Another thing that will get on my nerves would be that whenever one of them is trying to master a skill or trying to discover something new, it would take forever. When I say forever I mean a couple of hours and unlike the Sims games that we all know and love, their is no fast forward button in the Virtual Villager games. I wish their was one, but their isn’t. So, the only thing that you can do is get out of the game and come check on them later.

The more villagers you have doing the same thing, the faster the process goes. But, you’ll find that some of the people you control are really, really stubborn and will try to do anything else except what  you want them to do. When that happens I practically make it my life’s mission to get them to do it no matter how much they don’t want to until they give up. Its like me saying to them,” I do believe I control this game, not you.”

Even though, I say this and that about the game I still find myself drawn to them. Also, I hope that they continue to make more Virtual Villager games in the future.
