Hello once again everyone.
I hope your all excited for the new year, as well. I know I haven’t talked about a book on my blog for a very long time, so I hope to change that very soon.
This one that I’m about to talk about is actually one of my Christmas gifts this year, so I was a little excited to read it. Its called,” Stalking Jack the Ripper” by Kerri Maniscalco. It’s mainly revolved a girl named, Audrey Rose, who was from a wealthy family, but liked doing things that society at the time would not have approved her of doing. During the day she was any other rich and beautiful girl, but at night she was a scientist that helped her uncle in his experiments with the human body. Cutting up corpses became a norm for her. Once the gruesome and mysterious murders of prostitutes started showing up around town by no other than the infamous Jack the Ripper Audrey’s curiosity got the best of her and she made it her mission to find and stop the murdering madman. Along by her side was Thomas, the and charming assistant (when he wanted to be) to her uncle.
I enjoyed watching their grow as they fight and find the truth together. On another note, I find the summary in the back of the book kind of misleading. In the back it suggests that it was a girl in love with Jack or maybe even an ex from a long time ago who knew either knew who Jack the Ripper was or was crazy and loved his work or something. If it’s just me that thought that it was going to be like that then okay.
I was totally into the mystery, the conspiracies and handsome men that made an appearance in this book. I do like Audrey’s character a lot because she never really doubts herself, she’s so sure of what she wants and will do whatever she can to get it. You have to admit it was probably really hard for her back then than it is now considering the times we live in.
Now this is just my personal opinion of the book and everyone has their own personal tastes to whatever they enjoy reading. So, for me this book is very good, but it’s not addictive good and what I mean is if I reading a book and I’m super into it and someone comes near my space for whatever reason this is what happens most of the time:
Me: (Reading)
Stranger: “Hey, can you come out-
Me:“HOW DARE YOU INTERRUPT ME WHILE I’M READING! IS IT THAT IMPORTANT?!”
Stranger: “No….but-”
Me: “ITS NOT! THEN SHUT UP AND LEAVE ME IN PEACE!!!”
Laugh all you want, but never interrupt me when I’m reading especially if it turns out to be a really good story. Also, I’ve realized that this is a series and the next one is Hunting Count Dracula which I will probably get into later since it came out earlier this year. All in all other than the misleading summary and very elegant cursive handwriting for the letters that was put in this story, it was very good and would have to give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Can’t wait to read the next one and hope you like it, too.
