Brothers: The Tale of Two Sons

Warning: May Contain Spoilers!!

This game was created by Starbreeze Studios and I have to say this was a really unique and really fun game to play. The story revolves around two brothers, if you couldn’t guess from the title, who realize that their father is dying and the only way to save him is to travel across the land and find the water of life. Naia, the older brother and Naiee, the younger brother set out immediately to go find it.

What I find funny is that they never speak English in this game. They keep saying weird random words that make no sense to me. It kind of reminded me of when I played the Sims and you could never understand them. Even though, you couldn’t understand a word of what they were saying; they had such detailed body language that you could pretty much guess what they were talking about.

The story would suck you right in and before you know it your already done with the game. So far that was the only flaw I could see in the game. It literally took me 4 hours to beat the game, maybe even 3 if I didn’t die so much. The game was so easy to play that I actually thought it was impossible to die, so to test it out I died on purpose on one of the chapters, just to see if I could. The one thing that really popped out at me which made the game so unique and special were the controls. Instead, of controlling the brothers one at a time and switching them out whenever the need arises, you actually end up controlling them AT THE SAME TIME! That’s right I said it, at the same time with the same controller.

It’s because of this that I’m not sure if this is a good beginner game or not. It might be good for gamers who’ve played a game or 2, but because of how different the controls are for this game it might end up confusing you at first. It really does take some getting used to; but eventually you’ll get used to it. Also, I would like to mention that there are a lot of ‘What the fuck?!’ type moments in the game. Like for me, what got me angry was what happened with the spider lady and the twist at the end. As the credits came up I didn’t know if I should feel happy, sad or angry. It just made me think that maybe if I go back in the game then the ending would change……sadly it did not.

It was like you were playing inside of a movie but it’s not like games like Until Dawn( which I think I haven’t talked about yet) where you would watch a lot of the video game like a movie than make a decision here or there. Your actions decide how fast this game’s story is going to move along. Also, with all the different puzzles and creatures in the game, it really keeps your mind on its toes. I do believe that anyone playing this game will agree that, even though, it was kind of short it was a wonderful game to play.

Blue Exorcist

Ao no Exorcist a.k.a Blue Exorcist is about named Rin Okumura, who is a total hot-headed and ends up getting into fights a lot. Not only that, but he has a twin brother named Yukio and these two brothers don’t act alike, sound alike or even look-alike. What’s even more hilarious about this is that Rin is the older brother out of the pair, but no one believes them. Yukio is the more mature and responsible twin with a job and goes a really famous school called True Cross Academy. On the other hand, Rin is the reckless twin who has no job goes to public high school.

Now, your probably thinking that Rin is just a no good person with no heart but that isn’t the case. It turns out that when he gets into a fights, there is a good reason behind it. For example, he caught some guys shooting pigeons down with to a crossbow and wanted them to stop. So, I would say that Rin is a more misunderstood type of guy.

Anyway, one day Rin gets attacked by a demon which chases him all the back to the church and that’s when his father ,Shiro, who is the head priest of the church tells him that he is the son of Satan and that he’s a half-demon. Shiro then gives him a sword that especially made for him, but he says he should never unsheathe it because then his demonic nature would come out. Of course, we all know that he’s going to do it anyway and help fight the demon off. After, that Satan possesses Shiro which ends up killing him.

After that Director Mesphisto Pheles comes in who is an old friend of Shiro. He tells Rin that he should come to True Cross Academy, so he can live and learn how to become an exorcist, so he can defeat Satan and avenge his father’s death.

This is a really good anime and its also a manga, too. It’s really funny and there are a lot of twists and turns everywhere in this. This anime really keeps you on your toes and I would recommend this to anyone who loves anime. Sorry, I couldn’t get too far into talking about the characters in this one. But, I’ll talk about them a little more next time.
